I’m Laura, an Oakwood resident and lover of old homes! I created Oakwood Is Home to serve as a resource for other Oakwood residents, and those from surrounding communities. Here you’ll find information about the history of our town, fun things to do, great eats and more.
My love of history is what brought me to the Oakwood Historical Society, where I now serve on their Executive Board as Treasurer. This amazing group of people have only helped to further kindle my love for this community. I have learned sooooooo much from my time with the historical society (and some time volunteering with Dayton History), and now I’d like to share some of the best stories with you!
A little about me, I bought my home here several years ago for me and my then-future pup, but as they say, if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. I now share my home and my heart with my husband, Robert, our baby boy, and our furry sidekick, Sadie.
I hope you enjoy Oakwood Is Home and find it useful, as well as entertaining. If you would like to see more information on a particular topic, or have other questions or comments, please contact me. You can also connect with me quickly and easily via social media. I’d love to hear from you!
